TITANIUM
Titanium (TI) alloys contain a mixture of titanium and variety of different elements to include Iron, Aluminium, Vanadium, and Molybdenum to create strong lightweight TI alloys.
TI alloys have high tensile strength and toughness values. Titanium high production costs limit its use for High Engineered applications such as – Defense, Aircraft and Medical, Marine industries.
The following two Titanium grades are mostly used in variety of applications:
Grade 2
Grade 2 is “pure” with good Strength, Ductility and Formability values. Available in sheet, plate and bar.
Grade 5 (Ti 6Al-4V)
TI 6Al-4V or Grade 5 is the most used alloy. Approximately 50 percent of all Titanium applications utilize Grade 5. Grade 5 available in sheet, plate and bar.
MTS offers supply solutions for both Grade 2 and Grade 5
Titanium alloys specifications are:
-
ASTM B265, ASTM B348
-
ASTM B861, ASTM B862
-
ASTM F338, ASTM F67
